Kurdistan in its broadest sense means the country inhabited by the Kurds as a homogeneous community. It is divided between Turkey, Iraq and Persia with small overlaps into the Soviet Union and Syria; thus its boundaries do not coincide with any international frontiers or internal administrative divisions.
