Manufactured in the United States of America. Michael M. Gunter (B.A. Columbia University; M.I.A. Columbia University; Ph.D. Kent State University) is a professor of political science at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, Tennessee, USA, where he has been a member of the faculty since 1972. Earlier, he taught at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. In 1978–79, he taught as a Senior Fulbright Lecturer in International Relations at the Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkey. Recently, he also has taught at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee; the International University in Vienna, Austria; and Shanghai Xuhui College of Education in Shanghai, China. Professor Gunter is the author of a number of scholarly, acclaimed books dealing with the Kurds, including The Kurdish Predicament in Iraq: A Political Dilemma (1999); The Kurds and the Future of Turkey (1997); The Kurds of Iraq: Tragedy and Hope (1992); and The Kurds in Turkey: A Political Dilemma (1990). He also coedited Kurdish xodus: From Internal Displacement to Diaspora (2002) and The Kurdish Question and International Law (2000). In addition, he has published numerous scholarly articles on the Kurds in such prestigious journals as the Middle East Journal, Orient, Current History, Middle East Quarterly, Third World Quarterly, Cultural Survival Quarterly, and PS: Political Science and Politics, among many others. Professor Gunter has been invited to speak on various aspects of the Kurdish issue by a number of different government agencies in the United States, as well as many scholarly conferences both in the United States and broad. |
